Taking a holistic approach means taking a whole body and mind approach to your skin. It looks at much more than just your skincare products. Holistic skincare looks at your diet, amount and quality of sleep, digestion, exercise, stress levels, types of stress, emotions, hormones, your menstrual cycle and how these all contribute to and affect your skin’s health. It looks at a skin condition as something that requires deeper questioning, what I usually refer to as ‘detective work’. Spending more time at home versus the treatment room over the last few months has given me the opportunity to take a look at what I own and consume at home, especially with my skincare. It’s provided me with the opportunity to ask myself how I can be a more sustainable skincare enthusiast in an industry that is notorious for toxic waste.
